Deer no longer have natural predators in Britain, the last wolf having been killed in the 18th Century. In addition, we have several introduced species of deer now naturalised in our countryside. The result is that deer numbers in Britain are now higher than at any point in the last 1000 years.

Deer management services in Dorset, Devon and Somerset.

As lovers of wildlife and passionate conservationists, we love to see healthy deer in the countryside. However, we are aware of the negative impacts that high numbers can have on regenerating woodland, the wider ecosystem, and on the deer themselves. We believe it is essential for deer populations to be managed in order to maintain balance and allow our woodlands to flourish and support a wonderful diversity of life. We find that this service complements our woodland management work and enables us to offer a fully comprehensive and complete conservation service to our clients. However, we understand that not all landowners will find it appropriate for us to actively manage deer on their land. In which case, other measures such as installing deer fencing and tree guards can be taken.

Management of deer populations involves carefully observing population dynamics in order to assess population levels, before selecting appropriate levels and individuals to cull in order to conserve the health of the herd. We never select animals for trophies. We believe that deer are a valuable resource and so utilise every part of the animal where possible.

We provide a highly professional and discreet deer management service. The safety of the public is considered at all times, as is the welfare of the animals involved. We are DMQ qualified, fully licensed and insured.
